چکیده
This work investigates the efficiency of tuned inerter dampers (TIDs) in controlling seismic response two adjacent buildings and pounding distance between them. Pervious research on this subject has shown that installing TIDs every floor one coupling each with additional inerters (CS1) provides best control performance. Some potential drawbacks solution are large number devices used practical difficulties associated sharing buildings. To overcome these drawbacks, we propose a new configuration TMDIs, called here as CS2. The proposed makes use much fewer than CS1 does not require Contrary to findings published literature, show uncoupled systems can be configured more effective coupled systems. superior performance system is primarily due different arrangement CS2 compared CS1. In CS2, connected TMD masses rather floors done Performance assessment its comparison carried out through numerical examples several ground motions covering range amplitude frequency content. first example, heights but similar fundamental periods vibration. second one, same height vibrations. These cover cases facing lower higher risk pounding, respectively. found better existing TID both studied here.

A RELIABILITY APPROACH TO COMPARE OPTIMAL SEISMIC DESIGNS OF MULTIPLE-TUNED-MASS-DAMPER
Passive systems are preferred tools for seismic control of buildings challenged by probabilistic nature of the input excitation. However, other types of uncertainty still exist in parameters of the control device even when optimally tuned. The present work concerns optimal design of multiple-tuned-mass-damper embedded on a shear building by a number of meta-heuristics. They include well-known g...

متن کاملVibration Control of a Power Transmission Tower with Pounding Tuned Mass Damper under Multi-Component Seismic Excitations
In this paper, the two-dimensional vibration controls of a power transmission tower with a pounding tuned mass damper (PTMD) under multi-component seismic excitations are analyzed. A three-dimensional finite element model of a practical power transmission tower is established in ABAQUS (Dassasult Simulia Company, Providence, RI, USA). The TMD (tuned mass damper) and PTMD are simulated by the fi...
متن کاملThe Effect of Tuned Mass Damper on Seismic Response of Building Frames with Uncertain Structural Characteristics
Tuned mass dampers (TMDs) could be used to absorb the input energy of the applied load, and reduce the response of the building frames. However, the effectiveness of TMD in reducing the response of the building frames could be affected by inherited uncertainties in the structural characteristics of the frames. In this study, in order to investigate the probabilistic response of steel moment-res...
متن کاملTHE CAPABILITY OF OPTIMAL SINGLE AND MULTIPLE TUNED MASS DAMPERS UNDER MULTIPLE EARTHQUAKES
The main focus of this research has been to investigate the effectiveness of optimal single and multiple Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs) under different ground motions as well as to develop a procedure for designing TMD and MTMDs to be effective under multiple records. To determine the parameters of TMD and MTMDs under multiple records various scenarios have been suggested and their efficiency has be...
